360Heros is now offering a new series of workshops teaching end-to-end VR/360 video workflow! These exciting classes will focus primarily on set-up and shooting with an overview of the stitching process.
For each class, students will be awarded a certificate of completion at the conclusion of the class. Classes will include light breakfast and lunch.
The first workshop is Saturday, May 14, at our office at Village Workspaces, 11845 West Olympic Boulevard #1100w, Los Angeles, CA 90404.
SCHEDULE
8:00-8:30 AM Breakfast, Networking, Computer Setup
Have a snack and get to know the workshop leader and other attendees.
8:30-9:00 AM Opening Remarks
Opening discussion about 360 video shooting & VR. Keynote & video presentation led by Matt Sheils.
Purpose: This is meant to level everyone’s understanding of the basics.
9:30-10:00 AM 360Heros Video Capture
Introduction to various monoscopic and stereoscopic setups.
Purpose: This will provide detailed information on which rig to use for various shooting scenarios.
10:30 AM -11:30 PM Shooting Exercises
Students break up into groups and shoot with a provided rig, learning about different camera mounting options (static camera, tripod, and monopod) and experimenting with subject movement from a near, mid & far point from the camera system.
Purpose: This will allow for experience with handling, setting up, and maneuvering the rigs. Students will learn subject to distance limitations, threshold for camera movement, and potential parallax problems inherent to 360 live action videography.
11:30 – 12:30 PM Introduction to 360CamMan Media Management Software
Everyone will congregate for this part to watch how to import, analyze and duplicate data using 360CamMan.
Purpose: Demonstrate software for importing micro SD cards and managing multiple files, which helps to determine validity of takes and anticipate stitching problems.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Break for Lunch & Networking
Chow down on some tasty food and get to know everyone!
1:30 – 3:00 PM Introduction to Stitching – Overview
Everyone will learn how to import media into stitching software, adjust camera positions and render a “quick”stitch. We will then demonstrate how to refine seams and render a “fine” stitch using Kolor Autopano Video Pro.
Purpose: Observe and ask questions while we demonstrate the stitching workflow.
