360Heros 2015 VR 360 Video Tech Tour is well under way having already rolled through International CES, the Sundance Film Festival and a few other fun pit stops en route to Portland, Oregon.

CES marked the #360RV‘s first stop on the 360 Video Tech Tour as our team set up shop in Las Vegas for the week. With the 360RV as the backdrop for our trade show booth, we shared 360 video content, taught people about 360Heros gear and had a great time in general.
One of the highlights of our time at CES was collaborating with our sponsor Intel Thunderbolt, whose processing and file transfer technology makes 360 video production possible. Together with Intel, we demoed VR content captured with 360Heros gear, displayed our latest 360 video drone developed with Aerial Technology and announced the release of our new 360 Video Hosting and Syndication Center.
LA & Malibu
Following CES, we made our way south to LA and Malibu for some drone fun with our friend Bill Macdonald from Macdonald Productions. While in Malibu, we were able to capture some awesome aerial shots of the 360RV driving along the beach and enjoyed the ocean view from our office for the week in the Malibu hills:
Sundance Film Festival
The next major stop on our tour in January was the Sundance Film Festival. Invited to present during HP’s Filmmakers Speaker Series, CEO Michael Kintner and the rest of the gang set out for Park City, Utah. Virtual Reality content was the talk of the festival, with both filmmakers and attendees alike eager to get their hands on 360 video gear and immersive content.
Together with our friends from Three Six and Zero, we showed people VR content filmed with 360Heros gear via the Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard VR viewers.
Aside from content demos, Thursday was an exciting day for 360Heros as CEO Michael Kintner gave his presentation at the HP Sundance House. During the presentation, Mike explained the workflow and concept behind 360 video while demonstrating the key role that HP computing power plays in its creation.
Portland Oregon
After making its debut at Sundance, the next stop for the 360RV was Portland Oregon to see our friends from Aerial Technology International, the Sexton Corporation and our sponsor Intel Thunderbolt.
After meeting up with the team from the Sexton Corporation, we headed to Oregon State University to perform some tests on our latest underwater gear, the 360Abyss. Thanks to their team and the staff at Oregon State’s Wet-Lab, we were able to conduct some fun research and continue innovating our underwater 360 video gear!
After testing the 360Abyss, we were off to visit Intel’s facility and check in with updates from our adventures together on the 360 Video Tech Tour.
Having closed out an eventful January on the road, our team and the 360RV are gearing up for the next stops on the tour that include a journey down the west coast, NAB and number of other great VR events! We’ve been having a blast with the 360 Video Tech Tour so far and we can’t wait to see what other adventures are just down the road.
